were killed overnight in a rocket attack on a former u.s. base in iraq. that now houses members of the iranian group known as the m.e.k. and more than 6,000 people are without power in new york from the nor'easter. we want to get the latest from ron mott in providence, rhode island, ron? >> reporter: hey, as you mentioned, the power is story for as you mentioned 6,000 people or so, long island sound took on brutal winds and that caused a lot of the power outages here in rhode island. about 185,000 customers of national grid without power. so about almost 40% of their customer base. that's a lot of folks, unfortunately. and it's going to be a long time, perhaps, before a lot of them get their power back on because of all this snow out here. now, this is stuff piled up by snow crews, as plows coming through trying to keep portions of downtown open here. fortunately, there's not a lot of traffic. that's a good thing. they got to keep the roads open because these are arteries to trauma centers. hopefully, we won't have muched me for that today. but obviously, they're trying to get e

against the united states. heather joins us live with more. >> reporter: good morning to you. these are the startling findings in a new report that has just been released. the 74-page report says 141 major hacking attempts have been traced back to a secret group that is linked back to the china's military. the organizations include energy arrow space companies and also itel communications firm, blueprints and other sensitive documents were stolen from those companies. they say the hacking goes back to 2006. now there is also reportedly a memo from a chinese telecommunications company that admits it provided links for the sole purpose of hacking. the wall street times says they were hacked but china had is s denying the report and denying the alleged fact that it's military has any involvement with the hacking. both democrats and republicans in washington are now demanding more action on this. they say that china's hackers pose a huge national security risk. they say they released the report because it's time to acknowledge the serious threat that is posed by china and to help

"news nation" following this massive winter storm barrelling in to the northeast. it's already brought travel to a grinding halt. this is video, in fact, just coming in. the snow being blamed for a 19-car pile-up on an interstate in southern maine. state police say there were several minor injuries but you see a lot of damage to those cars and right now blizzard warnings extend from new jersey up to maine and there are some other pictures we have coming in. parts of michigan hit with more than ten inches of snow overnight. new york would get up to 15 inches. hartford, connecticut, up to two feet. meantime, massachusetts is now under a state of emergency. these are pictures from boston where residents are bracing for up to three feet of snow. that would be enough to break the all-time record set exactly ten years ago. we're also keeping a close eye on new jersey which could get blanketed up to ten inches three months after sandy devastated th

rail service in the northeast. meteorologist julie martin is tracking the storm for us. julie, where are seeing i guess the most intense snowfall right now? >> from connecticut to maine and massachusetts but really to put it in perspective, we are just getting going here. this storm just starting to wind up. in cities like boston, dealing with a slushy mess and snow right now. maine heavy snow for you. new york, just starting to turn over to snow but by the evening rush around 5:00 p.m. really going to get blasted there in new york city. heavy snow expected tonight. could pick up another eight inches to a foot and the word of caution today is get out early, get off the roads. many governors wanting you to do that very thing. here's a look at tomorrow then. still dealing with blizzard-like conditions in the cities including boston. this is a long duration of that and that's a problem with this system. storm:con for boston is a 10. that's the highest level here at the weather channel. you need caution with this. seeing the blizzard-like conditions, additional 12 to 18 inches tonight. t

's defense attorney is saying, well, they contaminated the crime scene. almost using the same terminology used in the o.j. simpson case saying, they weren't wearing booties. this guy admits, oh, yeah. they ran out of booties. so everything that was collected under his watch is now tainted. another reason why we won't get justice, quite possibly. >> and this bail hearing went on four four day, and a lot of information that the defense put forward. has that jeopardized their case at all, and what is the length of the hearing, what does that tell us about the trial that's upcoming? >> this is just a national obsession in south africa and, again, i just think that there is an institutional bias here to accept his version of events. lepts face it, there's more and more evidence coming out that he may very well be a hot head. the judge even referred to allegations that he threatened to break someone's legs, the police, right after the shooting came out and said, there were previous incidents of a domestic nature. we still don't know what that is about. and he has a past. a gun went off, alleged
